Camp Information

CAMP RANGI WOODS

TOTARA RESERVE REGIONAL PARK
POHANGINA VALLEY

Welcome to Camp Rangi Woods.

Camp Rangi Woods has 70 beds. More can be accommodated on a stage area if you bring mattresses. Accommodation is in the form of 9 rooms containing bunk beds with mattresses and a leader’s cabin with single beds and mattresses. All rooms have wall heaters.

The Camp phone number is 06 329 4876. This is to be used for local calls only.

Upon arrival at the Camp enter the Hall through a door at the car park side of the building. You will require a torch if arriving after dark.
The meter box is situated in a small room off the kitchen. Open the box and select the switches as indicated ( switches up=on) The power has usually been turned on for you by the camp manager.
Power, lighting, heaters are available in the bunk rooms.
The hot water will take a few hours to heat to a shower temperature. The leader’s cabin hot water is gas heated and will heat on demand.
Hot water is available via an electric heater in the kitchen. (Suitable for hot drinks). If the heater does not illuminate or heat when switched on, reset the switch on top of the unit(marked). The heater takes about 10 minutes to heat up initially.
The woodshed is kept locked. An amount of wood is left next to the fire place. A key is available for extra wood if needed. The Hall fire has an electric fan assembly to assist in heating large areas. Simply light the fire and switch on. (the switch is behind the fire on the wall).

If during your stay you are approached by outsiders to look over the Camp the decision is at your discretion.

NB: The Camp has a security surveillance and alarm system. Please do not interfere with this. We will arrange to have the alarm switched off before you arrive and we will switch on after you leave.
